Birth in Prison

Someone brought this news story to my attention yesterday:


Inmate's rights allegedly violated in jailhouse birth


Disturbing, but not shocking. All the more reason to abolish prisons. 
I figured this post was appropriate considering the post inviting you all to the info session for the Prisoner Correspondence Project (below). 
And while I'm introducing you to things, take a look at The Birth Attendants: Prison Doula Project, based out of Washington State. I went to see a presentation of theirs a few years ago. They assist pregnant/labouring people and new moms in jail, despite a lot of frigging barriers. The've got a few good resources on their, and a lot of interesting stories to tell.

No Freedom Without Reproductive Freedom.
